Samsung Fridge LED Light Modules
Samsung fridge light not working? How the LED modules fail, which part you need and whether it is a DIY job or one for an engineer.
Modern Samsung fridges light the interior with sealed LED modules rather than replaceable bulbs. The LEDs themselves rarely burn out; when the light fails it is usually the module's driver circuitry, the connector or, less often, the door switch that tells the fridge the door is open.
Unlike an old screw-in bulb, the module is a printed circuit strip behind a diffuser cover, and it is replaced as a complete part. Prices are reasonable (typically £15 to £40) and on most models the swap is a screwdriver job.

If the light has gone out completely, first check the fridge is otherwise running; a tripped circuit or a fridge in demo mode (the display shows OF F or similar) also kills the lighting. If the fridge runs but stays dark, press the door switch by hand: if the display responds but the light does not, the module or its connector is the likely fault. Flickering or a dim section of the strip points firmly at the module itself.
On models with lights in both the fridge and freezer compartments, the two use separate modules, so one failing does not affect the other. Ice-covered freezer modules sometimes recover after a defrost; water ingress from a blocked defrost drain is a common cause of their failure.
Replacing a module
Switch the fridge off at the socket first; the modules run at low voltage but the connectors should never be unplugged live. The diffuser cover unclips with gentle leverage from a plastic spudger or a flat blade wrapped in tape, working along the edge. Behind it, the module is held by one or two screws or clips and a single push-fit connector. Fit the new module, clip the cover back and power on.
Order by model number as always. Samsung lists these parts as LED lamp assemblies, and fridge and freezer compartment lamps have different part numbers even when they look alike. If the fault turned out to be the connector or wiring rather than the module, stop there: loom repairs inside the cabinet insulation are an engineer's job.
